This is one of the most exhilarating island experiences you will come into contact with - absolute privacy with next to nil facilities - truly nature in her element.

There are a couple of tours you can do whilst on the island. On the "Mystery Island Underwater Tour" you are able to try your hand at snorkelling or turtle tagging. The second tour is based on the island located a short boat trip away, "Aneityum Island Tour". You can embark on a fishing trip, hike halfway around the island or check out the waterfall tour. Transfers to Aneityum Island cost AUD$9 per person.

The accommodation is all beach bungalows with a variety of room configurations to choose from.

Keeping it local

The Mystery Island Bungalows are owned and operated by a NiVanuatu family; hence the grounds were all cleared by the hands of local people. As a direct result, facilities are basic and the area ecologically friendly.

Materials used in the construction of bungalows all come from nature. We've used the leaves from coconut palms for our roofs, Pandanus leaves for the floors and coral bamboo for the walls.

We use the local well and creek water mixed with sand from our pristine beaches to make up the cement. The villagers make bricks from their own mould.

All our food is organic and from the local environment, even our cows are fed all-organic food. As we have no refrigeration, all fish and meat is served fresh.

Since the business is locally owned and operated all income from the business stays in the community and goes back into the local economy.

We are positioned on a heavenly sandy island surrounded by amazing coral and cobalt waters. It is the ultimate paradise island experience for which you think would only be reserved for Hollywood or fiction.

Mystery Island is a tiny island protecting the Aneityum Lagoon - a place not visited by many tourists, adding to the tranquility of this paradise. You can rest assured that all of life's stresses will idly pass you by whilst taking in all the beauty of Mystery Island.

Because the island is mostly deserted you need to bring your own food and supplies. Basic supplies are sometimes available from Aneityum which is a 15 minute boat ride away and costs approximately AUD$9 per person one-way. Alternatively you can source fruits/vegetables or arrange to have fresh fish caught for you for a small fee. There is no power on the island. Kerosene lamps are available.

Please be aware that flights to Mystery Island (Via Tanna Island) are only on Mondays and Thursdays, therefore the minimum stay is 3 nights.
